Abstract
"Promoting high standards for quality-of-care delivery in those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Dementia and Related Dementias (ADRD) is critical in encouraging quality of life in residents, as well as satisfaction in staff members within long-term care (LTC) facilities. Sensory-based interventions have been shown to alleviate maladaptive symptoms in those with ADRD with continued implementation similarly to pharmacological interventions with fewer side effects (Yang et al., 2015). Staff members within LTC facilities, such as resident care assistants (RCA’s), do not often require extensive training or education on these topics. This project attempted to obtain insight into staff perceptions of increased education related to sensory processing in those with ADRD."
