Abstract
Increasing essential language and communication skills in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can lead to increased independence. A common way to achieve this goal is with mand training. Given the importance of this intervention, finding a tool to identify mands to be trained would help educators and clinicians. Two individuals with ASD participated in a mand assessment to evaluate the effects of free-access and restricted access to stimuli on manding. Mand training procedures were then conducted, and a final mand assessment was conducted after mand training. Results suggested that the mand assessment identified the presence or absence of manding.
