Abstract

"Food selectivity affects up to 45% and 80% of individuals with and without disabilities, respectively. Behavior analytic interventions have consisted primarily of differential reinforcement and escape extinction. Escape extinction, while efficacious, may also result in increased aggression, gagging, or vomiting, and therefore may not be feasible or desirable under some conditions. We describe a model for assessing and treating food selectivity and refusal without escape extinction for young children with and without developmental disabilities."
