Abstract

"Typical treatments for tendonitis include rest, activity modification, anti-inflammatory medications, physical and occupational therapy, and therapeutic tapes. Dynamic Tape (DT) works to mechanically alter movement patterns by absorbing load without limiting range of motion. The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of Dynamic Tape in addition to typical treatment on adults with upper extremity tendinopathy versus treatment alone. The expected benefit is to provide pilot data indicating the use of Dynamic Tape to improve performance skills and participation in meaningful occupations. This is a retrospective study using manual therapists who have treated tendinopathy with and without the use of Dynamic Tape within the past year. The study collected and analyzed data on the effectiveness of Dynamic Tape on tendinopathy through assessments such as a numeric pain scale, grip strength, Range of Motion (ROM), Manual Muscle Testing (MMT), and the upper extremity functional index (UEFI). The results of this study indicate that the use of DT in conjunction to treatment shows improvements in pain, UEFI scores and grip strength."
