Abstract
"Individuals with disabilities often face challenges in occupational engagement, particularly with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), which significantly impact their independence and quality of life. The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) defines occupational engagement as a person's ability to engage in occupation based on choice, motivation and meaning in a supportive context both environmental and personal factors (AOTA, 2020). For instance, a study conducted by Raina et al. (2020) demonstrated that 43.9% to 61.7% of individuals with these chronic conditions developed an IADL disability over a span of five years."
