September 23, 2017 -- The Twenty-second Annual Supreme Court Review Conference
On September 23, 2017, Western New England University School of Law Institute for Legislative and Governmental Affairs hosted the twenty-second annual Supreme Court Review Conference. Professor Arthur Wolf moderated, with panelists Professor Emeritus Leora Harpaz speaking on the First Amendment cases that dealt with the free speech clause or the free exercise clause; Professor Erin Buzuvis speaking on the Court’s confirming the application of Obergefell’s decision to benefits and privileges that flow from marriage; Professor Bruce Miller speaking on the Court’s decision that the implied damages remedy does not extend to detention policy claims; and Professor Wolf speaking about the case involving President Trump’s travel ban involving limitation of immigration of refugees. The panel also discussed some of the cases before Supreme Court in its upcoming term.
