On February 22, 2016, the Clason Lecture Series and Center for Gender & Sexuality Studies hosted Dr. Danielle Bessett as a featured speaker. This event was sponsored by Western New England University School of Law. She is an assistant professor of Sociology and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Cincinnati.

Dr. Bessett reflected on her participation in collaborations between legal advocates and social scientists related to abortion access in the U.S., evaluation of Medicaid funding for abortion in Massachusetts, assessment of abortion restrictions in Ohio, and an amicus brief for Whole Women’s Health v. Cole. She shared lessons that encourage more effective cooperation achieved through thoughtful partnerships and promotion of positive outcomes of share goals for evidence-based policy and just institutional practices.
