On April 13, 2011, Western New England College Law and Business Center for Advancing Entrepreneurship hosted Professor Karl Okamoto as part of its speaker series. Okamoto discussed the difference between poor value and poor performance of lawyers in dealing with entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.

He discussed how both the law and lawyers can be seen as a negative to new entrepreneurs, and how lawyers need to change that view. Lawyers need to assess the value of their experiences that they bring to the table for both the small business entrepreneur and the venture capitalist. They need to come up with a better way to put a price on the experience that they offer.
